Tips for using this product

Setting up AirSense 10 for the first time

Your pressure settings are programmed to your prescription before the device is shipped, so there is nothing to configure when you open the box.

Connect one end of the hose to the air outlet and the other to your mask elbow. A standard hose is symmetrical, so it cannot be fitted the wrong way round.
If your unit has a humidifier chamber, fill it with distilled or cooled boiled water up to — never above — the maximum line, then seat it firmly.
Plug the adapter into the device first, then into the wall socket. The start screen means the device is ready.
Put your mask on and breathe normally. If auto-start is enabled the therapy begins on its own; otherwise press the start button.

Short sessions during the first few nights are perfectly normal — adaptation takes a different amount of time for everyone.

With the SlimLine hose supplied in the box, remember to fit the L-shaped elbow to the device end. On the ResMed ClimateLineAir Heated Tube for AirSense 10, AirCurve 10 and Lumis Machines the connector carrying the electrical contacts is the one that goes into the device.

Getting the humidity right

Never fill the chamber past the maximum line. Overfilling lets water reach the air path and can damage the electronics.

Give the chamber about ten minutes to cool down before removing it — it can be too hot to handle straight after use. A blue snowflake on the screen means the device is still cooling.

Dry throat in the morning? Raise the humidity one step. Water collecting inside the hose? Lower it one step, or switch to a heated hose.

Weekly cleaning: chamber and hose

Humidifier chamber

Pour out any remaining water and wash the chamber in warm water with a little mild detergent.
If a chalky white film has built up on the bottom, soak it for twenty minutes in one part vinegar to three parts water.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water and air dry away from direct sunlight and radiators.

Some chambers are dishwasher safe — check the manufacturer manual before you try.

Hose

Spray Purqua CPAP Mask Cleaner Spray with Aloe vera 250ml generously along the inside of the hose.
Wait three to five minutes, then run a tube brush through it if there is visible residue.
Rinse with clean warm water until no foam is left.
Hang the hose in a U shape so the remaining water drains, out of sunlight and away from heat sources.

How smart ramp works

A conventional ramp raises the pressure gradually over a fixed period. Smart ramp instead waits at the starting pressure — 4 cm H₂O by default — until it detects that you have fallen asleep, then climbs by 1 cm H₂O per minute up to your prescribed pressure.

Even if you stay awake, the device reaches full pressure by the 30-minute mark. You can switch back to a conventional ramp or turn the feature off entirely from the menu.
